“Wing” is a twenty-something graduate student who loves to write, but is afraid to make mistakes. She is one to shudder at the grammatical mistakes found in other people’s (namely her partner’s) writing but is often quick omit it in her own. Through the use of a pseudonym (the first character of her Chinese name), she hopes to write courageously and gradually by learning through her own mistakes. Although she is a native Torontonian, she has lived outside her hometown for nearly 8 years in pursuit of higher education. At the moment, she is not at all fond of the cosmopolitan mega-city she once called home. However, who knows, things may change one day.
Out of the duo, Wing is the less funny one. However, that does not stop her from writing provocatively and critically. Through this blog, she seeks to write about her “loves”: social justice issues, the Christian faith, travelling, skin care products, sport, Korean dramas, and much more. It sounds fragmented, but she believes they are complimentary.
“Nguyen” (pronounced like ‘Wing?’ or “Wynne”) is a Vietnamese – Canadian man-child in his late-twenties. He was born and raise in Toronto, Canada, unlike his partner who lived in a dumpster called Scarborough (joking). He is an atheist, who believe that “religion” is an important part of life for many people and we should not shame them for it like Bill Maher does. Nguyen is a type of person who tries not to take life too seriously and laugh at himself once in a while if he is feeling down or trying to cheer up a friend. His partner once asked him to complete a Myer-Briggs test in order to know his personality types. Unfortunately, after completing the test there were more questions than answers. Who is he? He doesn’t really know…
Nguyen has graduated with a Master’s in epidemiology (and no…it is not the study of the skin, but rather study of population and diseases). At this moment, he is working as a researcher in a hospital. His hobbies are biking and walking around places just to smell the fresh fragrant air, playing board games, tennis, or basketball with friends and family. He is a jack-of-all-trades, which means he is horrible at everything equally. He is very confident in himself in terms of sports, perhaps it’s his Napoleon’s complex (he is 5’4 … but he told people he was 5’6).
The reason behind Nguyen fascination in writing blogs because he wants to improve on his writing and most importantly Wing told him to do so. He likes to write about: politics, sports, movie reviews, relationship and much more.
Wing and Nguyen are proud parents to Mao (his real name!), an 11-year old tabby cat who loves to hide and give people the cut eye. Parenting is hard but Wing and Nguyen have decided to take a liberal approach and let their son decide his life trajectory. Although he doesn’t play the piano or have any desire to be a doctor, they are happy with him just the way he is.
